Diamond tip indenter has been polished to a spherical radius of 0.004″ and ground to an included angle of 60°
Upper end (the shank) is the gripping area for insertion into a milling machine, drill press, or lathe
Lower end is the load cell that extends up into the body of the hardness tester and houses a centreless ground precision spring which preloads the hardened steel indenter
Direct reading analog dial is accurate to ±1.5 points
The total force required to move the indenter through its full travel of 0.025″ (6.35 mm) is 85 lbs. (38.56 kg)
